Job Summary
The Study Abroad Advisor plays a crucial role in guiding students through the process of exploring and participating in international education opportunities. This position involves providing comprehensive support, from initial inquiries to post-program reflection, ensuring students are well-informed and prepared for their study abroad experiences. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, a passion for education, and a commitment to student success.
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual and group counseling sessions to assist students in selecting appropriate study abroad programs.
- Provide academic advising related to program requirements and course equivalencies.
- Facilitate public speaking engagements and presentations to promote study abroad opportunities across campus.
- Mentor students throughout the application process, offering guidance on interviews and personal statements.
- Utilize systems such as Ellucian and PeopleSoft for managing student records and tracking program participation.
- Analyze student feedback and program outcomes to enhance future offerings and improve services.
- Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop partnerships with international institutions.
- Participate in recruiting efforts at university events, showcasing the benefits of studying abroad.
- Teach workshops on cultural adaptation, travel safety, and other relevant topics for prospective study abroad participants.
Experience
- Proven experience working with students in an educational setting, preferably within higher education administration.
- Familiarity with academic advising practices and educational systems such as Ellucian or PeopleSoft is highly desirable.
- Strong public speaking skills with experience in delivering presentations to diverse audiences.
- Background in mentoring or counseling individuals or groups effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage students from various backgrounds.
- Analytical skills to assess program effectiveness and student satisfaction.
- Previous experience in recruiting or teaching is a plus, along with a solid understanding of the challenges faced by students studying abroad. This role is essential in fostering a global perspective among students while enhancing their academic journey through international experiences.

Pay: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00 per month
