About Our Clients
Our client is a global seafood supply and manufacturing company specializing in premium shrimp products distributed to international markets, particularly the United States. Their operations span ASC- and BAP-certified farms across Indonesia, Vietnam, India, and Ecuador, with headquarters in Charleston, South Carolina and operational presence in Surabaya, Indonesia.
The company is entering a critical brand transformation phase. While Indonesian shrimp products have historically faced perception challenges in the U.S. market, the company sees a significant opportunity to reposition and elevate the category through modern storytelling, strategic marketing, and strong digital brand-building.
They are looking for a highly entrepreneurial Head of Marketing & Brand Growth who thrives in ambiguity, can build from zero-to-one, and is excited to experiment, execute, iterate, and scale. This is not a traditional corporate marketing role. The ideal candidate is someone who has previously helped build a startup, challenger brand, DTC business, or emerging company from the ground up.
Initially, a major focus will be leading social media and brand presence, but the long-term scope extends far beyond content management into brand positioning, audience growth, strategic marketing initiatives, and market perception transformation.
Responsibilities
- Build and execute overall marketing and brand growth strategy focused on reshaping the perception of Indonesian shrimp products in the global market.
- Lead the company’s social media strategy across Instagram and LinkedIn with a strong emphasis on storytelling, authority-building, and audience engagement.
- Develop bold, creative, and experimental marketing initiatives designed to increase brand awareness and industry credibility.
- Create and test new content formats, campaign ideas, and growth strategies with a high level of ownership and adaptability.
- Manage and mentor an internal creative team consisting of videographers, editors, and a content planner.
- Work closely with leadership to define brand messaging, positioning, and go-to-market communication strategies.
- Translate complex operational and seafood manufacturing processes into compelling and educational content for international audiences.
- Analyze social media, audience, and campaign performance data to continuously improve growth and engagement metrics.
- Identify strategic opportunities for partnerships, industry visibility, employer branding, and thought leadership.
- Operate with a startup mentality — moving quickly, solving problems independently, and iterating aggressively when strategies do not work.
- Willingness to travel across Southeast Asia for farm visits, content production, market initiatives, and regional business collaboration.
- Based in Surabaya or willing to work in a hybrid arrangement (required to work onsite in Surabaya approximately 3 days per month; travel expenses covered).
- 10+ years of experience in marketing, brand growth, social media leadership, or growth-focused roles.
- Proven experience building brands, communities, or marketing functions from scratch, ideally within startups, challenger brands, DTC businesses, or fast-growth companies.
- Strong understanding of content-driven marketing, organic growth strategy, and audience psychology.
- Experience leading creative teams and overseeing content production workflows.
- Comfortable operating in fast-changing and ambiguous environments with minimal structure.
- Demonstrated ability to generate ideas independently and execute them end-to-end.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong strategic thinking combined with hands-on execution ability.
