Research Fellow - South Asian Countries Relations
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Fellow to contribute high-quality, evidence-based analysis on the foreign relations and geopolitical developments of South Asian countries. This is a part-time, project-based position, ideal for a skilled scholar looking to combine rigorous research with a flexible schedule.
Key Responsibilities
The Research Fellow will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
- Original Research: Conduct independent, high-level research on contemporary issues related to the bilateral, regional, and international relations of South Asian countries (e.g., India, China ,Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, etc.).
- Article Crafting: Author and co-author high-quality, policy-relevant articles, opinion pieces, policy briefs, and research papers intended for publication in academic journals, institutional reports, and leading media outlets.
- Data Analysis: Collect, manage, and analyse complex qualitative and/or quantitative data to support research findings.
- Presentation & Dissemination: Present research findings at internal seminars, workshops, and, where opportunities arise, at external conferences or policy forums.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Senior Research team to align research output with the institute's strategic priorities and project timelines.
Qualifications and Skills
Minimum Requirements
- Education: A Master's degree in International Relations, Political Science, South Asian Studies, or a closely related discipline from a reputable, globally recognised institute.
- Expertise: Deep and demonstrated expertise in the foreign policy, political landscape, and/or international relations of South Asian countries.
- Writing Ability: Proven ability to craft high-quality, publication-ready articles with clarity, academic rigour, and a compelling narrative style. (A strong portfolio/writing sample is required.)
Preferred Skills
- Analytical Proficiency: Strong critical thinking and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Language: Proficiency in one or more regional South Asian languages is a significant asset.
- Software: Competency in research software, statistical packages (if quantitative), and advanced document processing.
Compensation and Terms

Part-Time: 12–14 hours per week (Flexible scheduling to be arranged with the supervisor)
Salary₹40,000 to ₹62,000 per month (Consolidated, commensurate with experience, qualifications, and publication record)
Contract Fixed-term research contract (Initial term of 1-6 months, with potential for extension based on performance and project funding).
