Overview
We are looking for an experienced VP of Engineering to lead Draftech’s OSP/fiber engineering organization. This role is responsible for delivery quality, team leadership (onshore and offshore), and building the processes needed to scale with client demand. It is a highly strategic, growth-oriented position: the ideal candidate brings a strong industry reputation and a network of relationships that can help Draftech secure new engineering and permitting programs.
Responsibilities
- Lead the OSP/fiber engineering team delivering projects for multiple clients and markets.
- Manage and develop engineering staff (onshore and offshore), including mentoring future leaders.
- Establish and maintain standards, workflows, and QA/QC processes across projects.
- Collaborate with business development and project management on scoping, resourcing, and solution design.
- Partner with leadership and BD to open doors with your existing network and support pursuit of high-value programs.
- Use your market knowledge and relationships to help qualify opportunities and shape compelling technical approaches.
- Monitor project performance, utilization, and quality, and drive continuous improvement.
- Support hiring, onboarding, and training of new engineering team members.
- Provide technical oversight on complex projects and resolve escalated design issues.
- Ensure compliance with client standards, permitting requirements, and industry best practices.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in telecom OSP / fiber engineering.
- 5+ years of experience leading engineering teams or departments, ideally at a director/VP level.
- Strong understanding of OSP design, permitting, and construction constraints.
- Experience working with or managing offshore/remote engineering resources.
- Demonstrated ability to implement processes, standards, and quality controls at scale.
- Well-established network of relationships with carriers, ISPs, utilities, tower companies, or prime engineering/CM firms.
- Recognized for building trust with clients and being a “go-to” engineering leader in the OSP/fiber space.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work across departments and with executive stakeholders.
- Familiarity with common OSP design tools and GIS platforms is a plus.
