Part-Time Administrative Assistant for Attorney Organization

The California Employment Lawyers Association is a statewide organization of over 1,400 California attorneys who devote the major portion of their practices to representing employees in individual employment cases and class actions, including cases involving unpaid wages, discrimination, harassment, retaliation and whistleblowing. We help our members protect and expand the legal rights and opportunities of workers through litigation, education and advocacy.
Role Description
- Assist Membership Services Specialist in managing CELA's membership database, processing membership and Marketplace applications and renewals, and responding to member inquiries regarding membership benefits.
- Support the Marketing & Communications Manager with various projects including event preparation, basic graphic design, Marketplace monitoring, website updating and data entry.
- General administrative work to support staff during event preparation, including fillable form creation, compiling materials, packing/shipping supplies, with the ability to increase work hours surrounding events from week to week, depending on need.
Qualifications
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in administrative support roles, preferably in a non-profit or legal environment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and collaborate effectively in a team environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with meticulous attention to detail.
- Remote Work: This position is 95% remote. In-office attendance is required in the weeks leading up to our in-person events, typically one to two weeks before each event, or on an as-needed basis. The in-person work location is in Woodland Hills, California, and the ability to commute into Woodland Hills daily is required.
- Travel: Overnight travel is required (3-4 times per year, depending on event location). Out-of-town travel will never exceed 5 nights. Some events fall on a weekend. Travel-related expenses are reimbursable.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft 365, Word, Excel, Google Suite, and database input. Comfortable navigating web-based software and experience in Canva and Adobe Express a plus.
- Essential Functions: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.
- Education: High school diploma required, AA degree preferred.
- Work Environment: This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptops and phones.
- Physical Demands: This is largely a sedentary role; in-person events will require the ability to lift files/boxes, loading/unloading of boxes and equipment on dollies, bend or stand as necessary.
- Expected Hours of Work: 25 hours/week:Monday-Friday during business hours; 5 hours per day.
- Training: If hired, training will be conducted online.
- Hourly Rate: $26/hour
