Bilingual Now is looking for a fluent English speaker to lead a dynamic online conversation session with a diverse group of Brazilian English learners, ranging from beginner to advanced levels.
This is not a traditional grammar-based class, but it is also not a passive conversation session. We are looking for someone who can create a structured, engaging speaking experience where students feel comfortable participating while also clearly learning something new.
The tutor will be expected to prepare a topic for the session and bring a simple supporting material-such as a short video, article, image, prompt, or real world discussion piece, to spark conversation. From there, the tutor should guide the discussion with thoughtful follow-up questions, encourage participation across different proficiency levels, and actively monitor the group to ensure the session feels interactive, valuable, and well led.
This is a freelance opportunity for a single 2-hour session. If performance is strong, the event may become a recurring monthly opportunity.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate a 2-hour online group conversation session
- Prepare a conversation topic in advance, supported by simple material such as a short video, text, article, or prompt
- Guide the discussion with follow-up questions that encourage critical thinking, fluency, and participation
- Foster a supportive and interactive environment for learners of mixed proficiency levels
- Actively manage group dynamics to ensure students remain engaged and included
- Provide active speaking feedback and corrections throughout the session
- Identify recurring mistakes and address them strategically, whether in the moment or during a final wrap-up
- Help students feel that they are not just speaking, but improving their English in a meaningful way
Requirements
- Strong communication skills and confident group management
- Comfortable leading sessions with learners of mixed proficiency
- Ability to prepare engaging discussion topics and guide conversation naturally
- Reliable internet connection and professional online presence
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience teaching English as a Second Language (ESL)
- Previous experience in online group instruction
- Experience giving speaking feedback and corrections in a constructive, encouraging way
- Cultural experience working with international students or clients
Compensation
- Total: $40.00 for the 2-hour session
