About the Role
We are looking for a skilled Video Editor to join our team and work on content for Dan Kieft’s YouTube channel, a fast-growing channel focused on AI and generative technology.
This role is ideal for an editor who not only executes edits well but also actively improves the content by adding creative elements, visuals, and storytelling enhancements. We value editors who go beyond the basic instructions and proactively elevate the final video.
Before a full-time collaboration begins, candidates will complete a paid trial project (a full video project at a lower trial rate than our standard pay).
Key Responsibilities
Video Editing
- Edit long-form YouTube videos with strong pacing, clarity, and storytelling.
- Maintain smooth video flow and structure to maximize viewer engagement and retention.
Creative Enhancement
- Proactively add B-roll, visual assets, and supporting footage when it improves the story or explanation.
- Generate or source relevant visuals when needed to strengthen the content.
Animations & Visual Effects
- Create engaging motion graphics, transitions, and animations, especially for important segments such as CTAs.
- Ensure visual elements enhance clarity and engagement rather than distract from the message.
Sound Design
- Apply effective sound design, music, and audio balancing to improve the overall viewing experience.
Collaboration & Creative Input
- Work closely with the team while also contributing ideas to improve the editing style or structure of the channel.
- Maintain clear communication and deliver work on time.
Software
- Strong preference for Adobe Premiere Pro and After Effects.
- Licensed software is required (no cracked versions, as project file sharing can cause issues).
- DaVinci Resolve is also acceptable.
Core Skills (Priority Order)
- Video flow and storytelling
- Animation and motion graphics skills
- Sound design
Proactive Mindset
- You do more than just follow instructions—you actively look for ways to improve the video.
- For example, if a section would benefit from specific B-roll, animations, or visual enhancements, you take the initiative to add them.
Reliability
- Reliability and meeting deadlines are non-negotiable.
- Our content production schedule typically involves:
- Recording on Fridays
- Publishing on Monday or Tuesday
- Editors must be available on weekends, as most editing work happens during that time.
Revisions & Responsiveness
- We typically go through 1–2 revision rounds, sometimes more depending on the project.
- Revisions must be completed quickly and carefully, ideally within 12 hours when requested.
- Editors must take feedback seriously and apply revisions accurately to avoid unnecessary additional rounds.
